  SEXUAL DIFFICULTIES IN MEN

Men face several sexual difficulties today. There is a stereotype about men. They are the performers. They are supposed to be active partners and the onus of satisfying a woman falls on them. This is an old prejudice but it still follows our society like a shadow of our past. No wonder invention of 'viagra' was a headline on front pages of most newspapers.

Several of men today face performance anxiety problems. Men face nervousness before sex for they fear failure. This may result in lack of erection or early ejaculation or difficulty reaching an orgasm. Even delayed ejaculation some time can be part of men's sexual difficulties.

Another major difficulty faced by men in their sexual relationship is loss of desire, reduced libido or interest in sex.

The underlying cause of the difficulty could be either physical or psychological. In order to overcome any sexual difficulty, the cause needs to be identified first.

If the cause is physical then it needs to be accordingly treated. Lack of testosterone hormone can cause lack of sexual desire in men. Sexual difficulties can arise from time to time and is it quite normal. But if it is persistent, it is probably time to see the doctor.

Keeping good health, healthy food habits and quitting smoking and cutting on alcohol can also help overcome sexual difficulties.

But sexual dysfunction, caused by stress, depression, lack of confidence, dissatisfaction on work front need to dealt with sensitively. If relationship is going through certain problems and conflicts, then also men may face sexual difficulties.

Communicating with your partner is very important. Don't suffer silently over your problem. Make this a combined problem faced by you both. Don't keep giving false excuses to not have sex and hide the real problem. Don't blame yourself or your partner for your difficulty. And don't think that this dysfunction or difficulty makes you less of a man or is a reflection of your masculinity.

Also if you can open up, with somebody who you are close in the family and your friends, talk about it. Pin down the center of the problem and work towards solving it. Not talking won't help.

Build up your confidence, reduce work stress and appreciate your self. This can take you to a land where sexual difficulties were part of history and sex is an enjoyable activity.
