  NUTRITION FOR A PREGNANT MOTHER
 


Tasty and nutritious diet need to be started early on for a healthy and successful pregnancy. Adequate level of nutrient in your diet will ensure that you and your child remain healthy during the pregnancy.

So what does constitute healthy nutritious food for pregnant mothers and is it different from the normal nutritious food?

It is no different from the nutritious diet you should be taking generally in life anyways. However, if you have been ignoring it, it is time to pull your socks up and be strict with yourself in you nutrient intake for your own sake and your child's health.

Apart from that you need to consult with your doctor on your vitamins and minerals intake and decide on an idea diet for you. Ideally if you already on a healthy diet, doctor won't require you to take vitamin and minerals pills.

WHOLESOME DIET FOR A PREGNANT MOTHER:

If you eat a healthy diet, ideally you won't need supplements of vitamins and minerals except probably for folic acid. If your doctor says that you do not need to take vitamins and minerals in the form of pills, consider that you are already on the right path to a wholesome diet. Just keep it up. And keep smiling.


Fruits and vegetables

Whole grains and sprouts. Sprouts are natural source of protein for you.

Wheat, rice, porridge, oats and other cereals

Dry fruits

Meat, fish, eggs, peas, beans and pulses

Milk and milk-products. If you don't like milk, raw nuts, dried fruits, sesame seeds are rich source of calcium for you.

Keep chocolates, ice-creams, cakes, pastries, butter, sweets, peda, rasgullas, etc to the minimum.

Vitamin E and fish oil c

apsules are important for the growth of fetus inside. Consult your doctor on how you can get these naturally through your diet rather than taking pills.
